Whether you’re after photogenic views or romantic spots to dazzle a date, rooftop bars are undoubtedly one of the most timeless and entertaining elements of Bangkok’s nightlife scene. Not only do Bangkok’s sky high gems pack a real punch when it comes to atmosphere, they also offer a range of décor and price points suited to every taste. From stylish riverside terraces to laid-back hangouts, we’ve put together a collection of some of our favourite spots to sip a cocktail at above the bustling city below. Surprise your friends by being “in the know” with these picks, listed in order of their height!
A trio including the world’s highest open air champagne bar – 63rd & 64th floors, The Dome LeBua Hotel
You might be surprised to discover that the world’s highest al fresco restaurant, Sirocco, and its highest open air champagne bar, the Flute A Perrier Jouet Bar, are located right next to each other on the 63rd and 64th floors of the Lebua Hotel, right alongside Distil – Bangkok’s highest bar. In addition to Sky Bar, which is suspended 820 feet in the air on a precipice over the city, this trio of bars and one restaurant make up an incredible food and beverage destination – which is exactly what Deepak Ohri, CEO of the Lebua hotel chain, had in mind when conceptualizing it. The multi-level venue can get a bit crowded at sunset, yet offers some of the most truly dazzling views of the city.
Live jazz music begins at 7.30 pm each evening. Make sure to book ahead if you’d like to dine at Sirocco. Note that the venue enforces a strict dress code.
Octave Rooftop Bar & Lounge – 45th – 49th floors, Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit
Octave on Sukhumvit 57 is well-known for its panoramic views of downtown Bangkok. Situated atop one of the area’s tallest buildings, the multi-level space is a great place to enjoy unobliterated views of Bangkok’s horizon. Consisting of a lounge, a balcony bar, and a 360-degree rooftop with a circular bar, there’s plenty of seating to enjoy great views of the metropolis and ample room to dance on the top floor.
Guests can enjoy 50% off signature Octave cocktails & mocktails during Happy Hour, every day from 5.00 to 7.00 pm.
Cloud 47 – 47th floor, United Center Office Tower
This is the rooftop bar to patronize on a rainy day – it has a three-storey high ceiling! Located at the top of the United Center office tower on Silom Road, Cloud 47 is probably the biggest rooftop bar in Bangkok – with its gargantuan space divided into eight zones. Offering friendly prices and a casual atmosphere, many visitors come here to marvel at the 180-degree skyline view and gaze out over Bangkok’s current tallest skyscraper, the MahaNakorn Building.
Guests can enjoy live music from a local band every Tuesday from 8.00 – 9.30 pm. Photographers who wish to bring a tripod with them are asked to request a permission letter in advance.
Zoom Skybar – 40th floor, Anantara Sathorn
If you’re staying in Sathorn, Zoom Skybar is the ideal destination in the neighbourhood to enjoy unforgettable panoramic views of the sky just before sunset. Upon reaching the top of the stairs and stepping into the bar, turn around and take in Bangkok’s expansive business district sparkling below. Zoom Skybar’s casual vibe makes it an excellent location to unwind from a busy day while observing the Chao Phraya river in the distance, nibbling on gastronomic French cuisine or enjoying memorable cityscape photo ops.
Guests can enjoy a buy 1 get 1 free special on soft drinks during Happy Hour – daily from 5.30 – 7.30 pm.
Attitude – 26th floor, AVANI Riverside Bangkok Hotel
For those who have had their fill of the skyline on the Phra Nakorn (downtown) side of the river, seeing the Chao Phraya River from the opposite side of it is a must. Enter Attitude, one of Bangkok’s newest rooftop bars offering an unrivaled view of the river from the Thonburi side. Opened in the summer of 2016, an open show kitchen serving up Asian tapas, a DJ booth spinning hip crowd pleasers and an extensive cocktail list will keep guests entertained as they snap photos of the Big Wheel at Asiatique shopping plaza in the distance and enjoy clear views of Krung Thep bridge while lounging in modern duo lounge chairs.
As the bar is only three months old at the time of publication, there are no specials on offer yet.
Char Rooftop Bar – 25 and 26th floors, Indigo Hotel
Are you a long-time Bangkok resident hoping to check out something new on its nightlife scene? Head to Char, the first rooftop bar on Wireless Road, located at the summit of the Indigo Hotel. Here, foodies can get their fill of “crafted storied dishes” such as wagyu, charcoal grilled octopus, and freshly shucked oysters while the drinks menu offers a selection of creative cocktails bound to entice you with their fusion of flavours.
Free flow wine is available at 700 THB net per person from 5.00 to 8.00 pm daily. Also be sure to ask the staff for their current Cocktail of the Month promotion.
The Roof Restaurant and Bar – 25th floor of Siam@Siam Design Hotel
Art lovers and those with an appreciation for design won’t want to miss The Roof Restaurant and Bar atop Siam@Siam Design Hotel. This remarkable hidden gem is located just minutes from National Stadium BTS (across from the popular MBK mall) and offers an immersive art experience. Prepare to be stunned by the neon-lit statues and creative installations on the 25th floor rooftop, which are bound to leave you with lasting memories for some time to come.
AMEX cardholders enjoy 15% off their entire bill, and Citibank cardholders enjoy 15% off their bill for food only.
Vogue Lounge – 6th floor, MahaNakon CUBE
It may not be the city’s highest rooftop bar, but the world’s first Vogue Lounge – launched in Bangkok in 2014 by the fashion magazine of the same title – is certainly one of the most luxurious. Its popular sister venue, Vogue Café, was first conceptualized in Moscow back in 2003. Still life photographic prints greet visitors as they enter an art-deco space adorned with leather seating and brass-and-white marble highlights. Situated in the Mahanakon CUBE building, the ultra-stylish lounge serves bite-sized cuisine crafted by Michelin award-winning chef Vincent Thierry.
Happy hour is every day from 5.00 to 9.00 pm, with buy 1 get 1 free drinks specials on offer. Visit on the first Friday/Saturday of each month and enjoy a special lobster thermidor meal at 1,400 THB, available on only those two nights of the month.
Standing at the edge of a Bangkok rooftop bar and gazing out over panoramic views of the metropolis below is when visitors truly realize what a vast city they are standing in. That moment is also one of the most romantic experiences to share with someone special. Don’t miss out on catching sight of the City of Angel’s glittering skyline on your next visit.
