Winter scene. Friends at Coronet Peak. Queenstown. New Zealand.

There are several world-class golf courses and ski slopes within easy driving distance from your Anantara Vacation Club in Queenstown. Each one offers a different experience but they all have one thing in common: magnificent and dramatic scenery.

In addition, when your limbs are aching or you’re simply in the mood for relaxation, why not allow yourself to be pampered at one of Queenstown’s luxurious day spas? Immerse yourself in a blissful steam bath massage and let the years slip away.

One of the most popular pastimes amongst our Club Owners is golf and whether you’re a beginner or experienced, you’ll be won over by what Queenstown has to offer. So let’s start with the best, Kelvin Heights. Considered to be one of the most scenic golf courses in the world, Kelvin Heights is accessible within a 15-minute drive from Anantara Vacation Club.

Located on the sunny Peninsula it’s surrounded on three sides by pristine alpine waters with the rugged Remarkables in the background. The 18-hole course offers the best golfing conditions all year round, providing summer and winter sun and little frost.

Another highly recommended golf course easily accessible from Oak’s Shores is Millbrook, voted the Best Golf Resort in New Zealand at the 2011, 2012 and 2013 World Travel Awards. With spectacular photo opportunities at every turn Millbrook offers championship golf with three nine hole courses, each named after local prominent Queenstown landmarks – The Remarkables, The Arrow and The Coronet Nine.

For something completely different that the whole family can join in, try Frisbee Golf. Bring your own Frisbee and playmates to Queenstown Gardens where a course has been marked out using numbered tees and circular targets. If it sounds a bit offbeat that’s because it is, but just like bungee jumping it’s great fun.

With around 400 golf courses throughout the country you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to perfecting your swing.

If you’re planning a visit to Queenstown between June and October, when the mountains are covered with snow and the air is crisp we recommend a ski trip in The Remarkables. Rising above the shores of Lake Wakatipu and clearly visible from Oaks Shores, The Remarkables will take your breath away with its spectacular vistas made famous in the Oscar winning film, Lord of the Rings.

The ski terrain here is very well suited to beginners and befitting its family friendly reputation. The Remarkables ski area also has a tubing park, making it a great option for those who want an alternative to skiing and snowboarding. Those who like the more extreme stuff won’t be disappointed either.

Equally as good and accessible is Coronet Peak, the regions oldest ski field. Skiing is guaranteed here thanks to the multi-million dollar snow making system while the treeless slopes and good snow provide great conditions for skiers of all levels. There’s even night skiing on Friday and Saturday from late June to late September.

Ease those aching muscles after a day of adventure, or just treat yourself to some relaxation with a massage! There are several massage and spa therapists to choose from in Queenstown but if you’re looking for something a little unique and special we recommend Spa and Wine Experience – Queenstown Wine Trail.

This full day tour starts at Body Sanctum Spa with a choice of two hour spa treatments followed by an afternoon of food and wine tasting.  The tour includes tastings at two wineries, a winery lunch, an underground wine cave tour and a visit to a cheesery. The Spa and Wine Experience operates all year round and is an all weather activity.

If you’re loving your Oaks Shores experience so much you don’t want to leave home then call Body Sanctum Mobile Massage. This service provides a team of experienced therapists providing therapeutic massage in the privacy of your vacation home: Deep tissue, relaxation, couples, aromatherapy, sports… whatever your need may be.
